I finally feel like my voice is being heard when I meet with Dr. Roe…I always feel so much better after our visits, and each time it reaffirms why we come here”–R.M.
I grew up in a small town in West Virginia where I spent time exploring the outdoors with my dad and many hours doing arts and crafts with my mom.  My love of nature and creativity, in addition to a deep faith in the body’s innate wisdom to heal, led me to study naturopathic medicine and midwifery.  I have known that I wanted to deliver babies since I was a little girl (there are reports of me “delivering”  my friends babies all the way back in nursery school!).  My experiences in life, travel, and learning have shown me the value of working with families from the very beginning and as they continue to grow.  This continuity of care is unique to having your midwife also be your family doctor.
“Dr. Amanda has a listening ear whenever we speak.  She makes time in every appointment for our (many) questions.  No question is a stupid question for her; she takes all our questions seriously.  Her quiet confidence and compassion were the reason my husband and I decided to have her as our doctor and to have a home birth.  I would recommend her to anyone interested in home birth in the Portland area.”
I studied Biology at James Madison University in Virginia with a focus on pre-medicine, zoology, and research.  While attending JMU, I fell deeply in love with the study of the human body.  I moved to lovely Portland in 2000 to specialize in  Naturopathic medicine and midwifery at the oldest accredited school of Naturopathy, the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM).   While at NCNM, I completed a 2-year internship in natural childbirth, with an emphasis on pediatrics and women’s health.
“Dr. Roe is wonderful with my daughter, providing a fun and safe environment to deliver premium naturopathic care.  My doctor as well, Dr. Roe makes me feel so comfortable.  I know she has our best interest at heart, which means so much. Thank you!”

When I’m not being your doctor, I love spending time with my family-my husband Michael, and our daughter, Iris and our son, Harry.  We love exploring nature here in the Pacific NW.   When I’m in town, I love vegetable & herb gardening, making crafts, running, biking, and teaching.   I look forward to  helping you with your health care concerns. Until we meet, keep up with my news on my Naturopathic Blog!  In health,
Amanda Roe, ND
